- Zombie Pumpkin
Gerald had always loved Halloween. Ever since he was a little boy he would dress up in the most elaborate costumes and go trick or treating with his friends. Even now as an adult, he still got excited for the holiday. This year, Gerald made it a point to find the perfect pumpkin for his jack-o-lantern. So, he went to a small farm just outside of town and picked out the biggest, most orange pumpkin he could find.
As Gerald was walking back to his car, he didn't notice the gravestones in between the overgrown weeds at the edge of the pumpkin patch. On the drive home, Gerald could hardly contain his excitement. He couldn't wait to carve his pumpkin and decorate his house for Halloween. When he got home, he put the pumpkin on the kitchen table and started carving it into a jack-o-lantern.
While Gerald was carving his pumpkin, he began to feel a bit uneasy. It felt like someone was watching him. He turned around but there was no one there. He shrugged off the feeling and continued carving his pumpkin. But the feeling wouldn't go away.
After plunging the knife into what would become the jack-o-lanterns left eye, it began to squirm and shake! Gerald dropped the knife and backed away in terror as a horrible face appeared on the skin of the fruit. The face screamed at him and then began spewing pumpkin guts across the kitchen table. The stringy pumpkin innards crawled toward Gerald as if they were alive. Just as he began to scream the squirming pumpkin guts gaged him and his vision began to fade out and after what felt like an eternity, total darknes.
Gerald awoke to the sun streaming through the kitchen window. He was on the floor. Slowly he began to get up, he was sore and cold after sleeping on the hard tile. How the hell did I get here he thought as he rose to his feet. Then the memory of the night before started replaying in his mind. It was foggy, almost like trying to remember a dream. Had it been a nightmare? He started to rub the grogginess from his eyes and his face felt wet to the touch. Panic rushed over him as he ran to the bathroom then terror as he look upon himself.
